Interesting Facts: German Shepherd

To continue on from last weeks blog. Having also grown up with a German Shepherd as my first dog as a kid I wanted to let you guys know some interesting facts about German Shepherds that you may not have heard of.



Did you Know.....
  1. German Shepherds were developed in Germany to herd sheep and protect them from predators
  2. German Shepherds are the 2nd most popular dog in America
  3. German Shepherds are the 3rd smartest dog breed
  4. German Shepherds were the first dog breed used as a guide dog in 1929 by Mrs Harrison Eustis
  5. German Shepherds come in different colours - black & tan, sable all white or all black
  6. German Shepherds are used as police and military/army dogs due to their intelligence, agility and loyalty
  7. They are able to learn simple tasks after only five repetitions and obey the first given command 95% of the time
  8. German Shepherds make very loyal pets but can be overly protective and aggressive to strangers
  9. German shepherds are natural guard dogs
  10. A German Shepherd’s bite has 238 pounds of force in comparison a human’s bite has just 86

Interesting facts about the Great tiger

Tiger The tiger is the biggest known species in the cat family. Tiger can grown up to 3.3 metres in length and weigh as much as 300 kilograms. Tiger are carnivorous animals and feed on primarily meat such as monkey, birds and fish. Tiger have black stripes and orange fur, which has a big contrast colour compare to the forest. However, these colours help them get camouflage in the green forest to stalk their preys. The speed of a tiger can run up to 49km to 65km per hour in a short sprint for their preys. Tiger vs Deer This video was taken as the Tiger stalking his prey to find a right time to strike its prey quickly. The scene shows the tiger striking the deer's neck to have a quick death. The Big Brown Bear

Brown Bear The Brown bear is located across the Northern Eurasia and North America and feeds on wide distribution of food. The bear can feed on vegetation and meat and become less active in the cold winter season, when it hibernates. The bear enjoy feeding on salmon near large waterfall when the salmon swim to the nesting area to mate. The average weight for male brown bear is 270 kg and for female is around 130-200 kg. The brown bear is 3 metres tall on their hind legs and 1.5 metres on all four legs.  Brown bear feeding on salmon This clip shows of brown bear ambushing in the waterfall to feed on the salmon. Brown bear are very aggressive in their territory and fight over the best spot to feed on the fish.
